How we work

These are the four things we hold to on every project. They are also the shortest description of what working here is like.

We ship, not stall

Work goes out in increments a client can open and use, not a long silence ending in a reveal. If an approach is wrong, that surfaces in week two when it is cheap to change.

One team, end to end

Whoever scopes a system designs it, and whoever designs it builds it. Nothing gets thrown over a wall, because there is no wall to throw it over.

Honest scoping

Scope and price are agreed in writing before work starts. When the right answer is to buy something off the shelf, we say so and name it, even though it costs us the project.

Built to actually run

Every project is handed over live, documented, and registered in the client’s name. We would rather be easy to leave and worth staying with.

What we look for

Roles here differ, but the same things matter in all of them.

You can take a vague business problem and turn it into something that runs. Briefs arrive as a description of a mess, not a specification.
You write software someone else can pick up. Handover is part of every project, so code only its author understands is not finished.
You talk to clients directly, in plain language. There is no account manager sitting between you and the business paying for the work.
You are comfortable across a build rather than one slice of it. Most of our work is Next.js, Supabase and Vercel, with Stripe, Resend and the Claude API where a project needs them.
You say when something is wrong, especially when it was our idea.

You do not need a computer science degree, an agency background, or a particular number of years. Show us something you built and what you learned when part of it went wrong.

How to apply

Use the register your interest form. It asks which area you are after, takes your résumé, and gives you room to say why Notara. If you would rather send something else — a repository, a system you have built — email hello@notara.com.au instead.

We read everything and we reply. If a role is open you will hear where it is up to. If nothing is open we will tell you that rather than leaving you waiting.

Notara welcomes applicants from every background. If you need an adjustment at any stage, tell us and we will make it.
What you send is handled under our Privacy Policy. Applications are kept only while they might be useful, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
We do not work with recruitment agencies, and unsolicited candidate submissions are not accepted.
