Our story

We care about the people who care for people.

Notara was built because NDIS support workers are doing some of the most important work in Australia — and they deserve tools that understand that.

Why we exist

The paperwork was drowning the people doing the work.

When we spoke to NDIS support workers across Australia, we kept hearing the same thing. Not complaints about their participants, not frustration with the NDIS itself — but exhaustion from the documentation.

Experienced workers spending their evenings writing notes they’d already done the hard work for. New workers staring at blank pages with no idea where to start. People questioning whether this career was sustainable, not because of the support work, but because of the admin around it.

That felt wrong to us. Support workers are remarkable people. They show up with patience, empathy, and skill in situations that would challenge most people. The paperwork shouldn’t be what breaks them.

So we built Notara. A tool that does one thing well: takes the shift you just did and turns it into a structured document draft, quickly, so you can get on with your life.

What we believe

The principles behind everything we build

These aren’t marketing words. They’re the decisions we make every day when we work on Notara.

Support workers come first

Not investors, not providers, not any other stakeholder. Every decision we make asks: does this make a support worker’s day easier? If the answer is no, we don’t build it.

Participant privacy is non-negotiable

The people you support have a right to privacy. Every technical decision we make reflects that. Australian servers. No data used for AI training. Full stop.

Drafts, not decisions

Notara creates a starting point. You are always the professional responsible for what gets documented. We never want you to feel like a machine replaced your judgement — it didn’t.

Your time is precious

You give so much of yourself in your work. We’re acutely aware that anything we build should give you time back — not add to your admin load.

Built with the community, not just for it

We speak to support workers regularly. We test features with real workers before we ship them. The people who use Notara shape what Notara becomes.

Accessible to everyone

Whether you’ve been in the sector for twenty years or you started last month, Notara should feel like it was built for you. No jargon, no complicated setup, no learning curve.

The bigger picture

The NDIS transformed lives. The admin didn’t keep up.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme has given hundreds of thousands of Australians access to support they never had before. That’s extraordinary. But the documentation requirements that came with it placed a significant burden on the people delivering that support.

“I became a support worker to help people — not to spend my nights at a keyboard.”

We heard that from worker after worker. And they were right. The documentation exists for good reasons — accountability, continuity of care, participant safety — but the way it was being handled wasn’t working for the people on the ground.

Notara is our answer to that. Not a replacement for professional judgement, not a shortcut that compromises quality — but a tool that handles the structural heavy lifting so you can focus on what brought you into this work in the first place.
